Queen’s Green Canopy

Queen's Platinum Jubilee Logo 2022

The Queen’s Green Canopy is a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022 which invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.  Town and Parish Councils are leading the way in delivering Queen’s Green Canopy planting projects across Bedfordshire.

As a nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee, the QGC was due to conclude in December 2022 – the end of the Jubilee year. However, this is now extended to the end of March 2023 to give people the opportunity to plant trees in memory of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Helpful information about the Queen’s Green Canopy and on delivering planting projects is available on HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire’s webpages here, including links to support and information available from Central Bedfordshire Council here and Bedford Borough Council here.

Meanwhile the Queen’s Green Canopy website has a list of Frequently Asked Questions for those considering undertaking a planting event, while the interactive QGC Map hosts a record of all QGC planting locations, showcasing the planting projects across the United Kingdom. The map will be in use for new projects to be registered to the end of March 2023, and information on how to use the map for those who have held or are planning to hold planting events is available here.
