Text: Accessing Advice and Guidance for Your Council with BATPC Via the clerk, BATPC member councils can obtain specialist advice and guidance in a range of areas. BATPC’s office hours are 10am-2pm, Monday to Friday, and the County Officer is available by phone and email to discuss any issues facing your council and to provide, or to obtain on your behalf, advice to tackle them. All advice services included here are benefits of your council’s membership of BATPC, with no additional charges. Legal Advice - NALC The National Association of Local Councils’ team of solicitors are available to your council, offers specialised legal expertise tailored to the sector. With in-depth knowledge of parish and town council legislation, they can provide bespoke advice on parish and town council powers and duties in varied areas such as common land and village greens, allotments, burial grounds and employment law. Advice requests are made via the County Officer other than in the case of larger councils with an electorate of at least 6,000, who can approach the NALC Legal Team directly. Employment Law and HR Advice – Worknest Law BATPC can obtain prompt, professional advice for your council on any aspect of Employment Law and HR from Worknest Law. All requests are handled with discretion, and the advice is tailored to your council’s needs by experts with sector experience. Finance and VAT – Parkinson Partnership Expert, insured finance and VAT support is obtained from Parkinson Partnership, with tailored advice provided by sector finance guru Steve Parkinson. Communications and Information Compliance – Breakthrough Communications Contact the County Officer with any communications or data/information compliance issues and he can refer you to direct, tailored assistance from sector experts Breakthrough on everything from crisis communications, community consultation and engagement, dealing with the press and media and social media to Freedom of Information requests, Subject Access Requests and other data protection matters. Council Procedure and Miscellaneous The County Officer is available to talk through and provide advice on any aspect of council procedure or any matters causing concern or uncertainty on your council.
