Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer, Tempsford Parish Council

Tempsford Parish Council is looking for a motivated person for the role of Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer.

Skills and Experience

  • IT literate, able to use Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Scribe Accounting package, or equivalent, would be useful.
  • Must be able to use their own initiative and work independently.
  • Have knowledge of local government and finances.
  • Already have or be willing to work towards CiLCA within 12 months.

Council meetings are held six times a year (January, March, May, July, September, and November) usually on the second Tuesday of the month at the Stuart Memorial Hall in Tempsford at 7.30pm.

The post is part time, 6 hours per week working from home. The hours can be flexible, although attendance at meetings is required. The Clerk will be provided with a laptop and printer and will need space to securely store paperwork.

Responsibilities include preparing agendas for meetings, taking minutes, management of budget and accounts and dealing with council correspondence.

Salary will be based on the NJC pay scale for Council employees will be agreed according to qualifications and experience (currently in the range LC1 Scale Points 13-17 which is £14.60 £15.58 per hour subject to pending annual review)
