Booking is now open for BATPC member councils for new Chairmanship 1 & 2 training sessions, taking place remotely via Teams.
This course usually takes place in-person, and further in person sessions in Shefford will continue to be scheduled including this autumn. However, in light of recent sessions being fully booked and in response to specific requests from member councils for a remote option, BATPC is adding the below sessions and hopes to maintain a remote Chairmanship training option, subject to demand.
Chairmanship 1
Thursday 15th August, 7:30 – 9:30pm
Chairmanship 1 is designed for new Chairs and Vice Chairs and covers the basics of the role and the responsibilities involved in chairing a meeting – this includes the role of the Chair, preparing for a meeting, the agenda, and knowing and applying the rules.
Chairmanship 2
Thursday 22nd August, 7:30 – 9:30pm
Chairmanship 2 is designed for Chairs and Vice-Chairs with some experience and covers chairing styles, managing the meeting, handling conflict, and stimulating discussion.
Each session is a stand-alone course covering the areas mentioned above, and attendance is open to all councillors on BATPC member councils. Councillors can be booked to attend either or both sessions, in accordance with their experience and training needs.

There is a limited capacity for each session to enable questioning and discussion; places are filled in the order that booking requests are received.
