Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, Cardington Parish Council

To start 1st January 2025

The role requires the Clerk to ensure the Council conducts its administrative functions and services professionally and in accordance with all relevant statutory obligations. The Clerk is the main point of contact for all other authorities, contractors, suppliers and the public and plays a significant role in Council meetings.

The position will be based at home and will be for 4.5 hours per week. There are 6 Parish Council meetings per year and one Annual Parish Meeting. These are held at the Village Hall every other month on a Monday.

Duties will include attendance at meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes, and preparing other meeting papers, dealing with all correspondence, to implement Council decisions and consult with outside bodies and residents and manage Council projects, also maintain the Council website.

The Clerk will manage all Council finances, Council assets and prepare the end of year accounts for audit.

The Clerk will maintain Paye software to manage any Tax and NI payments.

The ideal candidate will have good organisational and computer skills (Excel, Word), be a good communicator and should be CiLCA qualified or willing to study for the qualification.

The Clerk’s Salary will be in accordance with Government/NJC Pay Scales and set within salary range LC2 18-23 (£29,269 to £32,076 pro-rata), dependant on experience and qualifications.

There will be a payment of £200 per year for the use of the Clerk’s administrative equipment.
